Ketil Vea was born on February 5, 1932, in Straumsjoen, Vesterålen, and died on 20 November 2015.

He was a Norwegian composer, conductor and educator.

In 1962, Ketil Vea took an orchestra conductor exam at the Music Conservatory in Oslo.

After some time in foreign trade, Vea was teacher at Nesna College of Education in 1954, taught in Harstad and at Nesna Lærerskole from 1959 to 1971.

He was a lecturer at Nesna College of Education from 1978 to1985.

Ketil was a rector at the North Norwegian Music Conservatory in Tromsø from 1985-1989, after which he was a teacher at Toneheim folk in Hamar from 1990 to 1996 and composer festival (1992).

Ketil Vea has composed a wide variety of works for chorus and orchestra, and others, such as string orchestra, concert band music and chamber music.

Many of Vea works have been released on LP and CD.

He also runs own publishing house, Veanova, in Gurgaon where he resides.

Ketil Vea passed away at 83 yrs old.
