Kelechi Emeteole, Nigerian footballer, Died at 66

Kelechi Emeteole was born in 1951 and died on June 21, 2017.

He was a Nigerian football player.

Emeteole was part of the Nigerian national football team (Super Eagles) in the 1976 African Cup of Nations hosted at Ethiopia.

He had played 17 matches for Nigeria scoring 4 goals.

Emeteole was popularly called as ‘Caterpillar’ for his “rugged defensive style”.

He was assistant coach of the Super Eagles team and head coach of the Heartland F.C., Enugu Rangers and El-Kanemi Warriors F.C. and the Nigerian national beach soccer team.

Emeteole ended up been sacked as coach of Enugu Rangers in May 2015 where he was in charge for three months.

However, he was then hired as coach by El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in August 2015.

Kelechi Emeteole passed away at 66 years old.
