Kazimierz Kutz

Polish film director, author, journalist and politician Kazimierz Julian Kutz was born on February 16, 1929, in Szopienice and died on December 18, 2018.

Kutz served as a representative of the Polish Film School and a deputy speaker of the Senate of Poland.

He was born to a railway worker and a former partisan of the Silesian Uprisings.

Following World War II, Kutz graduated from the gymnasium in Mysłowice and in 1949 was admitted to the Łódź Film School.

When he completed his studies in 1954 Kutz started working as an assistant to Andrzej Wajda.

Kutz’s made his film debut on Krzyż Walecznych (in 1959).

After which he completed more than 20 pictures, including six about his home region – Silesia.

During 1972, Kutz was the founder of the Silesia Film Company in Katowice and, until 1978, was its Artistic Director.

Kutz’s 1995 film Reverted was entered into the 19th Moscow International Film Festival.

Kazimierz Kutz was married to Iwona and had two sons (Gabriel and Tymek) and two daughters (Wiktoria and Kamila).

Kazimierz Kutz passed away 89 years old.
