Julius Freeman died on July 22, 2016.

He was one of the Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen (DOTA).

He attended the 10th. annual Tuskegee Tuition Assistance Dinner Dance hosted by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. in January, 2008.

However, Retired Major General Irene Trowell-Harris was present along with several original Tuskegee Airmen: Willie Jackson, Isaiah Edward Robinson and William Wheeler.

He attended the 2007 annual College Now summer awards ceremony at York College in Jamaica, New York along with eight original Tuskegee Airmen: Dr. Roscoe Brown Jr., Lt. Col. Lee Archer, Maj. Victor Terrelonge, Lt. William Wheeler, Maj. Humphrey Patton, Lt. Col. Floyd Carter, Richard Brathwaite and Carl Finley.

Julius Freeman accepted a Congressional Gold Medal bronze replica at a ceremony at St. Phillips Pentecostal Church in Harlem along with three original Tuskegee Airmen: Reginald T. Brewster, Alton Burton, and Frederick Lawrence.

He was too ill to attend the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony held on March 29, 2007 to honor all of the estimated 16-19,000 Tuskegee Airmen at the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C.

Julius Freeman passed away at 89 years old.
