Judit Kaszab was born on August 15, 1920, and died on November 3, 2015.
Better known as Judy Cassab, she was an Australian painter and a Holocaust survivor.
Judy won the Archibald Prize twice.
Judy Cassab was born in Vienna, Austria in 1920 to Hungarian parents.
Her husband was put in a forced labour camp by the Nazis in World War II, and returned to Hungary in 1944.
Judy moved to Australia in 1950 and settled in Sydney.
She was the first woman to win the Archibald Prize twice:
1960 for a portrait of Stan Rapotec
1967 for a portrait of Margo Lewers.
Judy held more than fifty solo exhibitions in Australia, as well as others in Paris and London.
Judy passed away on November 3, 2015 at the age of 95 in her nursing home in the Sydney suburb of Randwick.
