Spanish Filipino businessman Jon Ramon Melendez Aboitiz was born on April 26, 1948, and died on November 30, 2018.

He served as the president of the Aboitiz & Company and Aboitiz Equity Ventures, part of the Aboitiz Group.

Jon Ramon Aboitiz began with the Aboitiz Group in 1970, after graduating from the University of Santa Clara, California with a B.S. Commerce, major in Management.

Starting off from a manager he worked his way up to the president in 1976 and in 1991 became president of Aboitiz & Co. of the Aboitiz Shipping Corp.

Jon Ramon Aboitiz work in many different positions with the Aboitiz Group, including chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Davao Light & Power Co., Inc., chairman of Veco and Aboitiz Jebsen Bulk Transport Corp., and director of Hapag-Lloyd Phils., Cotabato Ice Plant Inc. and Bukidnon Hydropower Corp.

He was also a trustee of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., the Aboitiz Group Foundation Inc. and the Association of Philippine Foundations, and was a member of the Board of Advisors, Washington Sycip Policy Forum at the Asian Institute of Management.

Jon Ramon Aboitiz passed away at 70 years old.
