Johnny Egan, Irish Gaelic footballer, Died at 76

John “Johnny” Egan was born in 1939, in Doon, County Offaly, Ireland and died on December 14, 2015.

He was an Irish Gaelic footballer.

He played as a left corner-back for the Offaly senior football team.

Johnny first excelled at Gaelic football in his youth.

Egan arrived on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Offaly minor team.

Johnny Egan made his senior debut during the 1957–58 league. Egan went on to play a key role for over a decade and won two Leinster medals on the field of play.

Egan was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions.

At club level Egan began his career with Doon before later playing with Ballycumber and Kickhams in Dublin.

During his years as a footballer, he made 35 championship appearances for Offaly.

Egan retirement came during the conclusion of the 1970-71 league.

Johnny Egan passed away at 76 yrs old.
