John Taihuttu was born on November 18, 1954, and died on January 18, 2016.

He was a Dutch professional football player of Moluccan-Indonesian origin.

A pacy winger, John settled in his professional football career at FC VVV, except for a half-season loan spell at Fortuna Sittard in 1985.

The Dutch football commentator Theo Koomen had famously nicknamed him Winnetou after a speedy run by the long-haired forward resembled him of the historic Indian chief.

Personal life and death

John’s younger brother Jerry Taihuttu and his son Gino also played professionally.

Later, John Taihuttu became the youth coach at Fortuna and coached SV Blerick until his death.

John Taihuttu passed away at 61 yeard old due to cancer.
