John Noah, ice hockey player, died at 87

John Michael Noah, born on November 21, 1927 and died September 3, 2015, he was an American ice hockey player.

Noah won a silver medal at the 1952 Winter Olympics.

John Noah died Thursday at the age of 87 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

The former University of North Dakota defenseman in hockey from 1947 to 1951 was the first UND All-American.

He played on the 1952 Olympic team, winning a silver medal, the first UND Olympic medalist.

“I have friends from different walks of life,” Dave Noah said. “Rich and poor.

North, south and West Fargo. They remember John Noah. It’s kind of neat because he helped people from all over. I had friends that were rough kids and they needed some direction.

They just called me and said, ‘Your dad was the guy that set us straight.’ He just lived a good life.”
