Wilfred John Newhouse was born on February 6, 1929, and died on December 10, 2016.

He was an American journalist and author.

Newhouse was best known as the author of the book “War and Peace in the Nuclear Age” published in 1989 as a companion to a PBS television series.

He graduated from Duke University in 1950, after which he served two years in the United States Air Force. After his discharge, Newhouse took a job as a copy boy for the United Press wire service in New York.

John resided in Paris in the 50s and 60s.

John was the author of nine books and a civil servant whose work spanned over fifty years.

John Newhouse worked for Collier’s magazine, a popular weekly in the 1950’s; authored numerous books on diplomacy, history, and later the airline industry.

John Newhouse passed away at 87 years old.
