John Mone, Scottish Roman Catholic prelate, Died at 87

John Aloysius Mone was born on June 22, 1929 in Glasgow, and died on October 14, 2016.

He was the third Roman Catholic Bishop of Paisley.

He was fourth of the six children of Arthur Mone and Elizabeth Dunn.

John grew up in the Crosshill district.

Following his studies with the Sulpicians at Issy-les-Moulineaux, France and at the rue du Regard and the Institut Catholique in Paris.

John was ordained to the priesthood on 12 June 1952.

Then, he served as curate for twenty two years at St Ninian’s in Knightswood and for five years at Our Lady and St George in Penilee.

During 1979, Mone was made parish priest of St Joseph’s Tollcross.

John Mone passed away at 87 years old.
