John J. Pruis, American educator, Died at 92

John J. Pruis was born on December 13, 1923, and died on January 15, 2016.

He was best known as being a president of Ball State University as well as having a building dedicated in his name on the campus.

Named after him, Pruis Hall is a unique building on campus

John Pruis received his education at Western Michigan University and then began working at the university upon his graduation.

Pruis taught speech for 13 years, was a vice-president for two years, and a secretary to the university’s Board of Trustees for four years.

John went to Western Michigan University for his education and later for a career.

Mr. Pruis, originally from Holland, Michigan came to Ball State on July 1, 1968, and retiring in 1978.

Following his time spent at Ball State, Pruis went on to become the vice president of corporate relations at Ball Corporation, the executive vice president of the George and Frances Ball.

He was the founder and director of the Ball Brothers Foundation.

John J. Pruis passed away at 92 yrs old.
