John David Barfield was born on October 15, 1964, and died on December 24, 2016.

He was a Major League Baseball pitcher.

Barfield attended Pine Bluff High School in Pine Bluff, AR.

Barfield played during three seasons at the Major League level for the Texas Rangers.

John was drafted by the Rangers in the 11th round (267th overall) of the 1986 amateur draft out of Oklahoma City University.

He played his first professional season with their Class A-Advanced Daytona Beach Admirals and Salem Redbirds in 1986, and his last with the Cleveland Indians’ Triple-A Buffalo Bisons in 1997.

He was shot to death in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas.

But, a suspect, who identified as 59-year-old William Goodman was arrested and was charged with first-degree murder.

John Barfield passed away at 52 years old.
