John Andariese, American broadcaster, Died at 78

John Andariese, nicknamed “Johnny Hoops” was born on August 19, 1938, and died on March 13, 2017.

He was a basketball analyst on radio and television, most notably for the New York Knicks and on national television and NBA TV.

Andariese also hosted NBA Legends with Johnny Hoops on NBA TV.

He began his career as a college basketball player for the Fordham Rams under coach Johnny Bach in the years spanning 1956–1960.

Andariese was a three-time All-City player during those years.

He went on to two National Invitational Tournaments and was team captain during his senior year at Fordham.

During 2014, he was inducted into The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a Curt Gowdy Award winner.

Andariese was also a member of the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame and the Fordham Basketball Hall of Fame.

John Andariese passed away at 78 years old.
