John Allen, British Anglican priest, died at 83

Rev John Edward Allen, died on September 9, 2015, he was an eminent Anglican priest in the latter part of the 20th century.

He was born into an ecclesiastical family on 9 June 1932 and educated at Rugby and University College, Oxford.

John was in the Colonial Service in Kenya from 1957 to 1963; and then in Sales and Marketing with Kimberly-Clark until 1966.

Ordained in 1968 he was initially a Curate at Deal and then Vicar of St Paul’s, Clifton.

John was then the incumbent at Chippenham until 1982 when he became Provost of Wakefield, a post he held until 1997.

John Allen died on 9 September 2015 at the age of 83.
