Hendrik Johannes “Johan” Cruijff was born on April 25, 1947, and died on March 24, 2016.

He was a Dutch professional football player and coach.

During his playing career, he won the Ballon d’Or three times, in 1971, 1973 and 1974.

Johan Cruyff was one of the most famous exponents of the football philosophy known as Total Football explored by Rinus Michels and was widely regarded to be one of the greatest players in football history.

During the 1970s, Dutch football rose from near obscurity to become a powerhouse in the sport.

Cruyff led the Netherlands to the final of the 1974 FIFA World Cup and received the Golden Ball as player of the tournament.

And The Johan Cruyff Foundation has provided over 200 Cruyff courts in 22 countries, such as Israel, Malaysia, Japan, United States and Mexico, for children of all backgrounds to play street football together.

The UEFA praised the foundation for its positive impact on young people, and Cruyff received the UEFA Grassroots Award on the opening of the 100th court in late 2009
