Joe Hosteen Kellwood was born on August 20, 1921, in Steamboat Canyon, Arizona and died on September 5, 2016.

He was a United States Marine,

He was best known for serving as a Navajo code talker during World War II.

He was a carpenter.

Kellwood served in the First Marine Division and served in the Pacific front, seeing battle in Cape Gloucester, Peleliu and Okinawa.

Joe received the Congressional Silver Medal for his service.

He died at the veterans hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
