Jia Jia, Chinese giant panda, Died at 38

Jia Jia was born in 1978, and died on October 16, 2016.

She was a female giant panda.

Jia was resident at Ocean Park Hong Kong.

When she died, she was the oldest giant panda in captivity.

She was born in the wilderness of Sichuan province and was captured in Qingchuan County around the age of two.

Jia was housed in Wolong National Nature Reserve before being transferred to Hong Kong in 1999, as a gesture to the territory following the British handover.

Jia had been suffering from high blood pressure, arthritis and cataracts.

Jia Jia passed away at 38 years old.
