Jean-Philippe Douin was born on April 8, 1940, and died on January 19, 2016.

He was a French Air Force general.

Jean was the Chief of Staff of the French Air Force from 1994 to 1995 and Chief of the Defence Staff from 1995 to 1998.

He was the son of Saint-Cyrien promotion in 1934, an infantry officer, grand-son of a naval officer in 1900 Promotion of the Naval Academy, Jean started at a young age his calling for the military profession.

Douin was married and a father of four.
