Jay J. Carty Jr. was born on July 4, 1941, and died on May 4, 2017.

He was a retired American basketball player.

Professionally Carty played collegiately for Oregon State University, and was selected by the St. Louis Hawks in the 6th round (48th pick overall) of the 1962 NBA draft.

Jay played for the Los Angeles Lakers (1968–69) in the NBA for 28 games.

He died due to cancer.
