Javier Echevarría Rodríguez was born on June 14, 1932, and died on December 12, 2016.

She was a Spanish bishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Up until his death, Rodríguez was the head of the Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei.

Rodríguez held doctorates in both civil and canon law.

Within the Roman Curia, the governing body of the Catholic Church, Rodríguez was a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, and the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura.

Rodríguez wrote a number of books on spirituality: Paths to God: Building a Christian Life in the 21st Century, Para servir a la Iglesia, Getsemaní, Eucaristía y vida cristiana. He also wrote his reminiscences of St. Josemaria: Memoria del beato Josemaría.

Javier Echevarría Rodríguez passed away at 84 years old.
