James M. Shuart, American academic administrator, Died at 85

James M. Shuart died on May 13, 2016.

He was the president of Hofstra University from 1976 to 2001.

Before his presidency, he served as a Nassau County official.

James was appointed Assistant President to Hofstra President Clifford Lord during the 1960s and also serving as an administrator in the division and then the school of education.

James M. Shuart was a 1953 graduate of Hofstra and the school’s James M. Shuart Stadium was named after him.

James M. Shuart passed away at 85 yrs old.
