John Thomas “Jack” Riley was born on June 14, 1919, and died on July 13, 2016.

He was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and executive.

He was best known for being the first general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League.

Jack Riley served the Penguins from their founding through the spring of 1970, and then in a second term from January 1972 to January 1974.

During 1975, Riley became Commissioner of the Southern Hockey League.

From 1979 to 1983, Jack served was President of the International Hockey League.

Jack Riley passed away at 97 years old.
