Robert Stassen, born on August 15, 1927, in West St. Paul, Minnesota, and died on October 15, 2015.

He was an American businessman, Baptist minister, and a politician.

Stassen served three years as the senator from South St. Paul.

The business ran in the family as his uncle was Minnesota Governor Harold Stassen and his grandfather, William Andrew Stassen, served as a mayor of West St. Paul.

J. Robert Stassen graduated from South St. Paul High School and then served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Robert received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 1951, and then received his degree from a Baptist seminary to become a Baptist minister.

MR Stassen also went to William Mitchell College of Law.

He was in the life insurance and banking businesses; Stassen was president of the West St. Paul State Bank.

From 1973 to 1976, Stassen served in the Minnesota State Senate and was a Republican.
