Giovanni Moretti was born on November 20, 1923, in Meina and died on October 16, 2018.

He was appointed the titular bishop of the Vartana and the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio of Thailand; Apostolic Delegate to Malaysia, Singapore, Laos on September 9, 1971, and ordained a bishop on October 24, 1971.

He was appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to Sudan on March 13, 1978 followed by Egypt in 1984.

He was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Belgium and Luxembourg on 15 July 1989 and retired from the Luxembourg and Belgium Nunciatures on 3 March 1999.
