Folco Quilici was born on 9 April 1930 and died on 24 February 2018.

He was an Italian film director and screenwriter.

Folco Quilici directed 22 films between 1952 and 2005.

He pioneered colour underwater photography when he started shooting, in 1952, the documentary film Sesto Continente (The Sixth Continent, first released in 1954).

During 2006, thanks to his books on the environment and culture, Forbes magazine included Folco Quilici among the one hundred most influential writers in the world.

Folco Quilici died at 87 years old.
