Isao Hosoe, Japanese designer, Died at 73

Isao Hosoe was born in 1942, in Tokyo, and died on October 3, 2015,

He was a Japanese designer.

Hosoe received his Bachelor of Science, in 1965 and his Master of Science in 1967, in Aerospace Engineering at the Nihon University of Tokyo.

He has been living in Milan since 1967.

He collaborated with Arch.

Alberto Rosselli of the Studio Ponti-Fornaroli-Rosselli from 1967 to 1974.

Isao was a Member of A.D.I. (Italian Association of Industrial Designers), of S.I.E. (Italian Society of Ergonomics), of the Japan Design Committee, and of the Japan Interior Design Forum.

Isao Hosoe has been a professor of Industrial Design at the Politecnico of Milan and at the Università degli Studi, La Sapienza of Rome.

Isao Hosoe has been a lecturer in different institutes: Domus Academy, Elisawa of Barcelona, Università di Siena, RISD of Providence, I.S.I.A. of Florence, University of Lisbon, Les Ateliers di Paris.

Isao Hosoe gained many awards and prizes including; the Compassi D’Oro SMAU prizes Biennial of Industrial Design at Lubiana, A Gold Medal at the Triennale di Milano Office Design Orgatechnik Forum Design, Milan Good Design Award at the Chicago Athenaeum.

He also received the Good Design Award at Tokyo The Red Dot for High Design Quality The IF awards Design Innovations at the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen Annual Design Review.

Isao Hosoe passed away at 73 yrs old.
