Irvine Gerald Sellar was born on September 1934, in Aldgate, London and died on February 26, 2017.

He was an English fashion retailer, turned property developer.

Sellar was the founder of the Sellar Property Group, and the developer of The Shard.

Irvine father was a glove shopkeeper in the East End of London.

He left school and founded a fashion company, Mates by Irvine Sellars, with a shop on Carnaby Street in Soho.

Later, Sellar opened a second shop in Soho.

His company was one of “Britain’s second-biggest fashion chain, with 90 shops in 1981.

In that same year, he sold it to a South African investor.

Irvine Sellar and his son James had an estimated wealth of GBP£220 million, in 2014.

Elizabeth was his wife, they had three children, including James Sellar.

Irvine Gerald Sellar passed away at 82 years old.
