Mariadas Kagithapu was born on 7 September 1936 and died on 26 February 2018.

He was a Roman Catholic archbishop.

He was ordained to the priesthood in 1961.

He was appointed the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Guntur, India, from1974 to 1982.

After which he became the bishop of the Diocese of Visakhapatnam from 1982 to 2001.

The diocese of elevated to an archdiocese during 2001.

Then, from 2001 until his retirement in 2012 he was the archbishop.

He died at 81 years old.
