Ida Margaret Gaskin CNZM was born in 1919 and died on January 8, 2016.

He was a Welsh-born New Zealand schoolteacher.

Ida was known for her expert knowledge of Shakespeare, and for becoming the first woman in New Zealand to win the local version of Mastermind.

Gaskin was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 1997 and was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Waikato in 2001.

Ida Gaskin passed away at 96 yrs old.
