Ian McCaskill, British meteorologist and weatherman, Died at 78

Ian McCaskill ( birth name John Robertson McCaskill) was born on July 28, 1938, and died on December 10, 2016.

He was a BBC weatherman.

He went to Queen’s Park Secondary in Glasgow, and then to the University of Glasgow, where he studied geology and chemistry.

He lived near Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire.

Ian had two daughters with his first wife Lesley Charlesworth, to whom he was married from 1959 until her death from breast cancer in 1992.

In 1998, McCaskill married Pat Cromack, becoming stepfather to her two sons.

He was a fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society.

In May 2000, McCaskill opened the first phase of the £1.2 million 11-hectare Lower Leas Coastal Park in Folkestone.

He was diagnosed with dementia in 2011.

Ian McCaskill passed away at 78 years old.
