Horst Paul August Ehmke was born on February 4, 1927, and died on March 12, 2017.
He was a German lawyer, law professor and politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD).
Horst Ehmke was appointed the Federal Minister of Justice (1969), Chief of Staff at the German Chancellery and Federal Minister for Special Affairs (1969–1972) and Federal Minister for Research, Technology, and Post (1972–1974).
Following the West German federal election, 1972 he moved to become Federal Minister for Research, Technology, and Post, until he was replaced in May 1974 by Hans Matthöfer.
Horst Ehmke passed away at 90 years old.
