Hassan Sharif was born on January 1, 1951, and died on September 18, 2016.

He was an Emirati artist.

Hassan lived and worked in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Sharif work was represented in major publique collections, such as Sharjah Art Foundation in UAE, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Qatar, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

Along with his own practice, Hassan Sharif has encouraged and supported several generations of artists in the Emirates.

During 2007, Hanssan was one of the co-founders of The Flying House, a Dubai institution for promoting contemporary Emirati artists.

Hassan was a founding member of the Emirates Fine Arts Society (founded 1980) and of the Art Atelier in the Youth Theater and Arts, Dubai.

His works are held in notable institutional collections including M+, Hong Kong; Guggenheim New York; Guggenheim Abu Dhabi; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha; and the Sharjah Art Foundation.

He died as a result of cancer.

Hassan Sharif passed away at 65 years old.
