Abu Sayed Matiul Hannan Shahwas born on October 11, 1941, and died on September 27, 2016.

He was a Bangladeshi politician and army officer from Gazipur District.

He retired from the Bangladesh Army as a Brigadier general.

Shah served as the standing committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

He served as the Minister of Jute during 2001-06.

Shah was arrested by Bangladesh Police from his residence, on 25 November 2013.

He was married to Nahid Hannan.

They had one daughter, Sharmin Hannan and two sons, Shah Rezaul Hannan and Shah Reazul Hannan.

During January 2015, Shah was hospitalized to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka with respiratory problems.

He died in Singapore while undergoing treatment for heart disease.

Hannan Shah passed away at 74 years old.
