Guan Guangfu was born in December 1931, in Muling, Heilongjiang and died on April 16, 2016.
He was a Chinese politician of Manchu ethnicity.
From 1983 to 1994, Guan served as Communist Party Secretary of Hubei Province.
He worked as an accountant in Muling, between 1947 to 1949.
During 1949, Guan was transferred to Hubei Province in central China, working in the provincial finance department.
Guangfu received a degree in finance from Hubei University through correspondence learning, in 1964.
During 1973, Guan became Vice President of the Hubei Branch of the People’s Bank of China, and in 1978, he was promoted to President.
During January 1983, Guan became Communist Party Secretary (Party Chief) of Hubei, and served in that position until December 1994.
Guan served as Chairman of the Hubei Provincial People’s Congress, from 1993 to 2002.
He was a member of the 12th, the 13th, and the 14th Central Committees of the CPC, serving from 1985 to 1997.
Following his retirement from politics, Guan focused on painting and was interviewed in his studio by Xinhuanet in 2010.
Guan Guangfu said he was especially fond of Shennongjia, and was proud of his policies protecting the nature reserve.
Guan Guangfu passed away at 84 yrs old.
