Girolamo Arnaldi, Italian historian, Died at 86

Girolamo Arnaldi was born on January 31, 1929, in Rome and died on January 30, 2016.

He was Italian historian.

Girolamo Arnaldi received his education at the ‘ University of Naples, where he graduated in 1951 with a degree in medieval history discussed with Ernesto Pontieri and Paul Brezzi.

Following his education at the Italian Institute for Historical Studies of Naples, directed by Federico Chabod, he was an archivist of State, member of the National School of Medieval Studies and professor at the universities of Bologna, from 1964 to 1970 and then at the Sapienza of Rome, from 1970 to 1999.

Girolamo was the president of the Historical Italian Institute for the Middle Ages established in Rome, in the palace Borromini, from 1982 to 2001.

And a member of the national ‘ Accademia dei Lincei.

Girolamo also participated in the publishing, collaboration, management or co-manager in some encyclopedias/collective, such as the History of Venetian culture, History of Vicenza, the Encyclopedia of the popes and the Encyclopedia Fridericiana, the latter two published by’ Institute of’ Treccani Italian Encyclopedia, the Scientific Council which Amaldi were a member.

Most Recently, some former students and colleagues wanted to celebrate the teaching and cultural figure, dedicating the volume in his honor on Medieval Studies for Girolamo Arnaldi.

Girolamo Arnaldi passed away at 86 yrs old.
