Giandomenico Boncompagni was born on May 13, 1932, in Arezzo and died on April 16, 2017.

He was best known as Gianni Boncompagni.

He was a television and radio presenter, director and writer and a lyricist.

when he was 18 years old Boncompagni relocated to Sweden, he stayed there for ten years doing various jobs, graduating at the Swedish Academy of graphics and photography and starting a radio career as a disc jockey.

While he was there he got married to a Swedish woman, after divorcing in the early 1960s he then moved back to Italy with his three daughters, and together with Renzo Arbore he created the radio program Bandiera gialla, the first Italian musical program focused on rock music and other avangarde genres.

In the 70’s the pair Arbore-Boncompagni also created Alto Gradimento, an innovative and successful radio variety show which launched the career of several comedians, including the brothers Franco and Giorgio Bracardi.

He was in a relationship with the television presenter and singer Raffaella CarrĂ  for a decade.

And, he also had relationships with actresses Isabella Ferrari and Claudia .

Gianni Boncompagni passed away at 84 years old.
