Gheorge Vrabie was born on March 21, 1939 in Călinești, Fălești and died on March 31, 2016.

He was a Moldovan artist.

Vrabie designed the coat of arms of Moldova, the seal of Chișinău, and the Moldovan leu.

He received his education at the Ilya Repin Leningrad Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (now Imperial Academy of Arts) in what is now Saint Petersburg from 1962 to 1967.

Gheorghe Vrabie was made a knight of the Order of the Republic, in 2010, Moldova’s highest honour.

Gheorghe Vrabie passed away at 77 yrs old.
