Georgios Tsakanikas, Greek shot putter, Died at 81

Georgios Tsakanikas was born on November 10, 1934, and died on March 1, 2016, in Athens.

He was a retired Greek shot putter.

He was the winner of a gold medal in the 1959 Mediterranean Games and a bronze medal in the 1959 Summer Universiade in Shot Put.

Also, Georgios represented Greece in 1956, 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympic Games in Shot put and in 1964 Summer Olympic Games in the discus throw.

And, he completed the Greece in the Balkan Games winning four silver medals in Shot put in 1955, 1957, 1959, 1960, 1961.

Now, the Balkan Games have now become a loose collection of Balkan Championships.

The shot putter’s personal best in shot put is 18, 21 m. achieved on December 26, 1964, in Athens.

Georgios Tsakanikas passed away at 81 yrs old.
