Georgia Frances Elise Blain was born on December 12, 1964, in Sydney and died on December 9, 2016.

She was an Australian novelist, journalist, and biographer.

Georgia was the daughter of journalist Anne Deveson and broadcaster Ellis Blain.

Blain’s first novel was Closed for Winter.

Her most recent works Births, Deaths and Marriages, a memoir of her childhood, was short-listed for the Nita Kibble Literary Award.

She died from brain cancer which had been diagnosed in November 2015.

Blain’s mother, Anne Deveson, died three days later, on 12 December.

Georgia Blain passed away at 51 years old.
