Gavin Whittaker, Australian rugby league footballer, Died at 46

Gavin Whittaker was born on January 13, 1970, in Pittsworth, Queensland and died on January 6, 2017.

He was an Australian professional rugby league player for the Bulldogs, Gold Coast and the Western Suburbs Magpies.

He joined Canterbury in 1992 as a prop forward.

He became a regular member of the reserve grade team and in 1993, received the opportunity to play first grade against Penrith as a replacement.

Whittaker played in the reserve grade Preliminary Semi-Final against Newcastle.

Whittaker’s son, Shai Whittaker has later played for representative teams from 2007-13; such as the Gold Coast Titans U18’s and Queensland U17’s.

He died from stomach cancer at his home in Parkwood, Queensland, a week before his 47th birthday.

Gavin Whittaker passed away at 46 years old.
