Franco Citti was born on April 23, 1935, and died on January 14, 2016.

He was an Italian actor.

Citti came to fame at 26 years of age, playing the title role in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s film Accattone.

Citti has appeared in the title role in Pasolini’s version of Oedipus Rex, in 1967.

Franco was best known to non-Italian audiences as Calò in The Godfather and The Godfather Part III and uttering the line ‘In Sicily, women are more dangerous than shotguns’.

Franco’s brother was the director and screenwriter Sergio Citti.
