Francisco Nieva, Spanish playwright, Died at 91

Francisco Morales Nieva was born on December 29, 1924, in ValdepeƱas and died on November 10, 2016.

He was a Spanish playwright.

Nieva moved to Madrid at an early age to train at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

Nieva was a member of the avant-garde literary movement called Postismo.

From 1948 and 1963, Nieva lived in Paris where his acquaintances included modernists such as Ionesco and Beckett.

Nieva’s first published work Es bueno no tener cabeza appeared in 1971.

He was a past winner of the Asturias Award, he was considered to be a leading candidate for the Cervantes Prize.

He was elected to Seat J of the Real Academia EspaƱola on April 17, 1986, he took up his seat on April 29, 1990.

Francisco Nieva passed away 91 years old.
