Évelyne Sullerot (née Hammel) was born on October 10, 1924, and died on March 31, 2017.

She was a French feminist.

Sullerot was a pro-abortion activist and the author of many feminist books.

Évelyne Sullerot was raised in a Protestant family.

Sullerot was the daughter of André Hammel and Georgette Roustain.

Évelyne’s father, a doctor, made one of the first psychiatric clinics in France.

Her father was Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur.

Évelyne’s mother died of hunger and cold at Valence station in 1943.

Her parents were very religiously committed to Protestantism socially and politically, were given the posthumous title of Righteous among the nations, for having saved eleven Jews during the German occupation.

Évelyne also was the cousin of the resistant Elisabeth Rioux-Quintenelle and the great niece of one of the initiators of the feminist movement in France, Louise Massebiau-Compain.

Évelyne Sullerot passed away at 92 years old.
