Ernest George Mardon, British-born Canadian historian, Died at 87

Ernest George Mardon was born in 1928, in Houston, Texas and died on March 6, 2016.

Ernest George Mardon has several dozen books, mostly on the history of Alberta, Canada.

His parents were Professor Austin Mardon and Marie Dickey, Dr. Ernest G. Mardon was educated at Gordonstone, Scotland, before attending Trinity College in Dublin.

Following that he was called up for military service in the Korean War as an officer with the Gordon Highlanders, serving with that outfit in the Suez Canal Zone, Cyprus, Libya, (1952 to 1954).

Ernest George Mardon was fairly discharged with the rank of lieutenant.

Mardon relocated to Canada in 1954 as Bureau Manager for United Press International.

Mardon taught at a high school in Morinville, AB, and then did Doctoral work in Medieval English at the University of Ottawa.

He was mong the first Faculty of the University of Lethbridge, Dr. Mardon was also a visiting professor at several other Canadian universities.

Ernest George Mardon children include the Antarctican Austin Mardon.

Ernest George Mardon passed away at 87 yrs old.
