Captain Eric Melrose “Winkle” Brown was born on January 21, 1919, and died on February 21, 2016.

He was a British Royal Navy officer and test pilot.

He flew over 487 different types of aircraft, more than anyone else in history.

Eric held the world record for most aircraft carrier landings performed (2,407) and was the Fleet Air Arm’s most decorated living pilot.

Eric Brown achieved several “firsts” in naval aviation, including the first landings on an aircraft carrier of a twin-engined aircraft, an aircraft with a tricycle undercarriage and a jet-propelled aircraft.

His father, an ex-Royal Flying Corps pilot, had taken him to see the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, in 1936.

Eric Brown passed away at 97 yrs old.
