Eloy Inos, Northern Mariana Islands politician, Died at 66

Eloy Songao Inos was born on September 26, 1949, and died on December 28, 2015.

He was a politician in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Inos was a member of the Republican Party.

He received his education at the Mount Carmel High School on Saipan, graduating in May 1967.

He gained his bachelor’s degree in accounting (Cum Laude) from the University of Guam in May 1981.

Eloy also studied business administration while at the University of Guam.

Before his death he was serving as Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands, having previously served as Lieutenant Governor.

Eloy was selected by Governor Benigno Fitial to fill the position of Lt. Governor Timothy Villagomez. Villagomez was convicted on federal fraud charges.

On May 1, 2009, he was sworn into office by Lt. Governor.

Eloy was elected to a full term as Lt. Governor in November 2009.

After the resignation of Benigno Fitial, Inos became governor on February 20, 2013.

Inos was elected to governor in the 2014 elections.

He died in office on December 28, 2015.

Eloy had 5 children and was the brother-in-law of the late Education Commissioner Rita Inos.

Eloy Inos passed away at 66 yrs old.
