Elmar Hillebrand was born on October 12, 1925, in Cologne and died on January 8, 2016

He was a German sculptor.

Following his graduation from the Apostle School (1943) and directly followed by military or war service as a prisoner of war from 1946-1950 at the Dusseldorf Art Academy, among others, Joseph Beuys as a master student of Ewald Mataré.

He then completed his studies at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris with Ossip Zadkine and abroad and travel (Algeria), in 1952 he exhibited for the first time from their own work.

Elmar Hillebrand worked at the Opera del Duomo in Cologne he was in 1964 as an associate professor of sculpture at the Faculty of Architecture, RWTH Aachen appointed (from 1967 full professor, emeritus since 1988).

His creations include, the statue in the lobby of the United Nations headquarters Vienna, and statues in churches and public places in Europe.

Elmar Hillebrand lived and worked in Cologne and white.

He has a son, Johannes Hillebrand is also a sculptor, and his son Clemens Hillebrand painter.

Elmar handed over his estate the years from 1952 to 2009 the Historical Archives of the Archdiocese of Cologne, in May 2011.

Elmar Hillebrand passed away at 90 yrs old.
