Elizabeth Joan Smith, Canadian politician, Died at 88

Elizabeth Joan Smith was born on January 5, 1928, in London, Ontario and died on February 9, 2016.

She was a politician in Ontario, Canada.

Smith was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1985 to 1990.

She represented the central Ontario riding of London South.

Elizabeth was a cabinet minister in the government of David Peterson.

Elizabeth received his educated at St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy.

Elizabeth was the founding member of Mme. Vanier Children’s Services and Diocesan Catholic Social Services in London, Ontario, and served on the board of governors for the University of Western Ontario.

Mrs. Smith received a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Western Ontario, in 2001.

She was the wife of Don Smith was the co-founder of Ellis Don, an employee-owned construction services company that were incorporated in 1951 in London, Ontario.

Herself and Don raised seven children.

She suffered a head injury in February 2016.

Elizabeth Joan Smith passed away at 88 yrs old in London.
