Edward Lunn Young was born on September 7, 1920, in Florence, South Carolina and died on May 9, 2017.
He was a Republican U.S. Representative from South Carolina.
Young graduated from Clemson College (now Clemson University) in 1941.
Then almost immediatly after graduating, he joined the United States Army Air Corps and served as a fighter pilot in the Pacific during the last part of World War II.
Young was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters.
Followoing his 1980 defeat, Young retired from politics.
Young died in his sleep.
Edward Lunn Young passed away at 96 years old.
